Friendship

Today my Facebook Status update read "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves." I guess was having a moment of deep reflection. Although I have a wonderful family that I cherish, I also have an amazing group of friends that support and encourage me in a different way. When you are born into a family, that's it! You have to accept them for the people they are...the good, the bad, and the ugly. However with friends, those same rules do not apply. You have the power of choice! You can choose to associate with positive, like-minded, and giving individuals. I have made that choice. To me, my friends are my family! Because I don't throw the word "friend" around carelessly, they consist of a very small and diverse mix of people. Old friends, new friends, work friends, pageant friends....but all family! As I continue to mature and grow into the woman I am destined to be, these are the people that I have chosen to walk this journey with. All of them add something different and unique to the essence of ME!!! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family!
