Down and Dirty for Leukemia Research!

Wow! If someone asked me to describe how I feel at this moment, I would say "humbled". Prior to the Mud Run, I couldn't believe the outpouring of love and support that Team Divalicious received. We initially set out to raise $1000. However, we exceeded our goal by 65% and raised $1,659. Amazing! When I set out to form a Delaware Mud Run team, I thought it would be fun, challenging, and raise money for a worthy cause. Eventually the physical challenge and fun time became secondary. I put my sales skills to work and became uber focused on bringing in as much money as possible for the Leukemia Research Foundation. I texted every single person in my phone, called every family member, stalked co-workers, and facebooked my heart out. It worked! Team Divalicious ranked #2 in overall fundraising out of 654 teams! The Delaware Mud Run as a whole brought in over $200,000! As we stood at Frightland and watched Leukemia survivors introduce themselves, I found myself fighting back tears. To contribute to something so much larger than myself was so inspiring.

If you follow my blog, you will notice that lately I have been writing a lot of entries about my purpose in life. I've come to realize that for me, a life of purpose is a life of giving. It could be mentoring children, saving homeless animals, or raising money on behalf of a worthy cause. Giving to others gives my life meaning. And the Delaware Mud Run ranks up there as one of the most purposeful events of my life. Pics are below and a video coming soon!

Posing with Fran prior to getting muddy! Like me, Fran was also a fundraising queen. She was running in honor of her father and donations poured in from all over the country!

Wow! We did it! We finished the race in 30th place out of 201 All Female Teams in 48:35!
Pooped! But going back next year! You haven't seen the end of Divalicious!
