What is Love?

Love is patient, Love is kind,
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud, It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends.

Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8

Yesterday, Geoff and I attended the wedding of Alyson Golkin and Ryan Mang. Alyson and I competed together in Miss NJ USA in 2005 and were both in the Top 5. She was the sweetest and kindest girl at the pageant. And out of 145 contestants, she and I became fast friends. Her wedding was absolutely beautiful and Alyson was a stunning bride who partied the night away (in 6 inch heels I might add)!

The Bible verses above were read at the wedding. Of course I have heard them 1000 times before. But yesterday it took on a renewed meaning. I'm not that type of woman who pretends that my marriage is perfect and that we never argue or bicker. Because we do! But that's life. And on the way to the wedding, I was in a foul mood. Geoff was late (as always) and I can be a bit OCD when it comes to my schedule. When I heard the words "it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs", I thought about our car ride to NJ. Yeah, Geoff was late....again! But I got far more upset than I should have over being 10 minutes late to a wedding. Not only that, I reminded him of ALL the other times that he caused us to be late. And at the end of the day, my reaction was worse than his offense. When you are married, you must learn to work with the person that they are, as they are. And if you know Geoff, you will know that he is an amazingly kind, thoughtful, and selfless person. To me, that's more important than being timely! So the next time Geoff is late, I will remember the verses above and try not to be easily angered.

We ended up having a fan-ta-bu-lous time at the wedding! And it was great seeing Aly! I am sure Aly and Ryan will have a beautiful life together. They are truly made for each other.
