Spreading Holiday Cheer!!

This Holiday Season Geoff and I were blessed to partner with two very special organizations, Kay's Kamp and BTL Foundation for International Services.

The mission of Kay's Kamp is to provide children ages 5-17 currently battling cancer and those in remission the opportunity to participate in a unique camping experience promoting fun and normalcy-"free of charge"! Each year, Kay's Kamp participates in a gift wrapping event sponsored by Amazon.com. $1 for ever gift wrapped went to support this mission. Geoff and I wrapper our hearts out. And overall, 3 children ($1000 per child)will be able to attend Kay's Kamp this summer based on the efforts of all volunteers. Additional funds were also raised for the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities (DFRC) and the Mission Programs at St. Marks United Methodist Church.

The BTL organization's mission is to promote multi-cultural understanding and friendship by providing health, education, and humanitarian services to people in need in the U.S., India, and Abroad. Each Holiday season, they provide dinners and related services to people in need in the U.S.A. They have one simple motto that speaks volumes--"Service to people in need is service to God."

On Dec. 22, 2010 we served meals at the Salvation Army in Wilmington. After dinner was served, I had the opportunity to visit with all of the beautiful children.

On Christmas Day, Geoff and I volunteered with Little Sisters of The Poor. Again, we served dinner and spent time visiting with the residents and mingling with their families. We were so impressed with the work the sisters do at this facility. They provide quality care for needy elderly in a loving, home-like environment. We definitely plan on working with them again! Geoff was a huge help! I hardly saw him. He pushed wheelchairs, served drinks, moved furniture....whatever the need, he jumped in!! He even put together little gifts for all of the residents and sisters!
