The Heat is On!

You know the old saying "when it rains it pours". That totally applies to my current situation. Everything that could possibly go wrong over the past few days has gone wrong. It started last week when the A/C went out. We were actually fine with it because it was 80 degrees for most of last week. As many of my readers know, we are currently in a heat wave. I fully expected our A/C to be fixed by Friday. That didn't happen! Then we entered into the 4th of July weekend. Clearly nothing would be fixed on a holiday weekend. Being the crafty person that I am, I sent Geoff to Home Depot to buy Window A/C Units. At last....relief....NOT!! The A/C Units were dripping water from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor ceilings. My ceilings began buckling in several places and I was forced to turn them all off to maintain the integrity of my home. Then on Tuesday, our part came in. I was thrilled! But get this, the new part was broken and our technician needed to re-order the part! Seriously! Why me? If you can't take the heat, you have to get out of the kitchen...literally! I packed up Winston and Lucy, dropped them off for an extended playdate with their doggy BFF, and located a Dog-Friendly Hotel. I packed a bag for me and Passion within 5 minutes and we relocated to a hotel. Geoff soon followed.

I was totally bummed and down on myself until I watched the news from my air conditioned hotel suite. The reporters discussed recent unemployment statistics and noted that their will likely be no relief in site until 2017. In fact, several displaced workers will likely NEVER return to work. Wow! Then I saw that 2 people in our area died yesterday as a result of the heat. As I watched this, I realized how blessed I am. I am employed, healthy, and in a place where I could relocate to a hotel to beat the heat. A lot of people aren't so fortunate. So no more complaining from me as I am blessed. Thank you to all of my friends who offered help and relief. Please extend that help to others who need it much more than I do.
